FAQs

Where do your engines come from?

All of our JDM engines are low mileage units that we import directly from Japan. In Japan there are circumstances that affect daily car usage.  High costs for general car maintenance, parking & transportation fees  and stringent inspection rules result in depreciated car values  abroad for Japanese citizens.  Attarco  purchases these engines and test for compression, oil pressure and leaks before selling to our customers  resulting in low mileage high value engines for today’s economic times.  If we do not have the engine or transmission you’re looking for, we have a nationwide network of companies to find what you need; be it Japanese, Korean, European, or domestic. Simply give us a call and let us find it for you.

Are these engines smog legal in the US market?

Yes! We would not be able to import the engines if they were not legal in the States. Please remember to swap out all of the original external parts from your engine onto the engine you purchase from Attarco.  Here is a link to the California Air Resources Board regarding Japanese engine replacements- http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/replace.htm (scroll down and review information under the Japanese Replacement Engines heading).

If I have a warranty claim, do you pay my mechanic to install another engine?

No. We do warranty used & rebuilt engines & transmissions  for 12 months/12,000 miles (whichever comes first). If there is any problem with the item that is covered under the warranty, we may replace it with another item, but we do not pay labor, shipping, or any other related costs.
